UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital gets new chief physician

Alexander Bassuk, MD, PhD, was appointed physician-in-chief of University of Iowa’s Stead Family Children’s Hospital in Iowa City. He was also named chair and departmental executive officer of the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics. His new roles became effective Sept. 1.

Dr. Bassuk currently serves as a professor in the pediatrics department and is director of the department’s division of pediatric neurology, according to a news release shared with Becker’s Sept. 7.

“I am honored and excited to serve the Stead Family Department of Pediatrics in this leadership role,” Dr. Bassuk said. “I am deeply committed to our department, and to the core tenets of our mission: to provide outstanding clinical care to the children of Iowa, our region, and beyond; to excel in scientific research advancing pediatric care and treatment; and to provide superior education and training to the next generation of clinicians and scientists.”
