A physician leader at Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is joining Cleveland-based University Hospitals as physician-in-chief and chair of the medicine department, according to a June 9 news release.
Igho Ofotokun, MD, currently serves as co-director of the Emory Center for AIDS Research Clinical Core and associate director for research development at Emory School of Medicine. He is also a staff physician at Atlanta-based Grady Health System and a professor at Emory University.
Dr. Ofotokun’s career has focused on the long-term effects of HIV, and he has authored more than 250 scientific publications, the release said.
In his new roles, Dr. Ofotokun will lead University Hospitals’ teaching programs for residents, medical students, fellows and other research initiatives.
Dr. Ofotokun will assume the positions Oct. 1.
