Gainesville, Fla.-based UF Health has appointed Janice Walker, DHA, RN, as its inaugural chief nursing officer.
In the newly created role, Dr. Walker will oversee nursing and clinical support services across UF Health’s inpatient, ambulatory and post-acute care settings. She will collaborate with regional CNOs and partner with clinical, operational and academic leaders to support system integration, workforce strategy and care quality, according to a Jan. 21 news release.
She will also work with Shakira Henderson, PhD, dean of the UF College of Nursing and system chief nurse executive, to align academic and clinical nursing priorities.
Dr. Walker most recently served as system vice president and regional chief nurse officer for Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health’s Southeast Region, overseeing nursing operations in four states. She also held executive roles at Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health, including executive vice president and chief nursing executive.
