U of Miami Health taps CEO

Dipen Parekh, MD, has been named CEO of the University of Miami Health System and executive vice president for health affairs at the University of Miami, effective immediately.

Dr. Parekh, a urologic oncologist, has served as COO since 2020, according to a June 2 UHealth news release.

Joseph Echevarria, who has served as University of Miami president and CEO, will continue in his role as president of the health system and the university.

Dr. Parekh joined the organization in 2012 as chair of the department of urology and later served as chief clinical officer from 2017 to 2020. In 2021, he was named executive dean for clinical affairs at the Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, where he helped align the university’s academic and clinical missions, the release said.

UHealth operates nearly 40 outpatient facilities, UHealth Tower, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute.
