Tufts Medical Center appoints new CEO: 5 notes

Boston-based Tufts Medical Center named Michael Apkon, MD, PhD, CEO, effective in the fall.

Here are five notes:

1. Dr. Apkon will also serve as CEO of Floating Hospital for Children in Boston, affiliated with and connected to Tufts Medical Center.

2. He is currently president and CEO for The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada.

3. He was previously CMO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and executive director at Yale New Haven (Conn.) Children’s Hospital.

4. He has served as a professor of pediatrics at the University of Toronto.

5. In addition to earning his MD and PhD from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Apkon holds an MBA from Yale School of Management in New Haven.
