Trios Health names Brenda Atencio CNO: 8 things to know

Kennewick, Wash.-based Trios Health has appointed Brenda Atencio CNO.

Here are eight things to know about Ms. Atencio.

1. Ms. Atencio has served in an interim capacity since April.

2. As CNO, Ms. Atencio will oversee all clinical aspects of Trios Health's two Kennewick hospitals: Trios Southridge Hospital and Trios Women's & Children's Hospital.

3. Ms. Atencio was assistant CNO for Trios Health from 2012 to 2014. In summer 2014, she served as a leader on the transition team to open Trios Southridge, relocating substantial operations from the original hospital in downtown Kennewick.

4. Ms. Atencio also previously held a range of nursing and management roles at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland, Wash., from 1995 until 2011, including director of acute care services, manager of clinical decision unit, clinical nurse educator, core measures data analyst, manager of medical/surgical and inpatient rehabilitation, and surgical unit staff nurse.

5. Ms. Atencio has also worked for Orchard Park Health Care Center in Tacoma, Wash., and St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma.

6. Ms. Atencio has served as a nursing instructor at Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland.

7. Ms. Atencio received a master's degree in nursing from Washington State University Tri-Cities. She completed undergraduate studies at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma.

8. Ms. Atencio is board-certified in medical surgical nursing and as a nurse executive.
