Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health has named Peggy Norton-Rosko, DNP, RN, senior vice president and chief nursing officer.

In the role, Dr. Norton-Rosko will oversee nursing services across the system, which operates 92 hospitals across 25 states. She will be responsible for developing integrated care models and strategies that improve quality, safety and financial outcomes, the health system said in a Jan. 19 news release.

Dr. Norton-Rosko joins Trinity Health from the University of Maryland Medical System in Baltimore, where she has served as chief nurse since March 2024. During her tenure at the academic system, she emphasized engaging frontline nurses in professional governance and leveraging unit-level data to improve patient experience and nurse-sensitive safety indicators. Before joining UMMS, Dr. Norton-Rosko served as regional chief nursing officer for Trinity Health’s Illinois and Indiana regions.

“Peggy comes into her new role with a commitment to supporting connected interprofessional care, a professional nursing practice environment and excellent patient care,” Dan Roth, MD, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Trinity Health, said in a statement. “In her extensive experience she has a proven record of transformational leadership across the continuum of care driving improvements in clinical outcomes, workforce development and patient experience.”

She succeeds Gay Landstrom, PhD, RN, who retired in September after a 27-year career in nursing.
