Trinity Health CEO Joseph Swedish Resigns for WellPoint CEO Post

Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health has announced that Joseph Swedish, Trinity’s president and CEO, will resign next month to become CEO of health insurer WellPoint in Indianapolis.

Joseph Swedish resigned from Trinity Health, will become WellPoint CEOMr. Swedish has led Trinity since December 2004 and has been a Trinity Health Board member since July 2011. Under his leadership, Trinity Health’s revenues increased from $5.7 billion in 2005 to $8.9 billion in 2012. He has 40 years of healthcare leadership experience.

At WellPoint, Mr. Swedish will earn a base salary of $1.25 million and can earn up to roughly $3.8 million in incentives, according to a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing. He will start at WellPoint on March 25.
