Tri-City Medical Center names Dr. Gene Ma chief of staff: 5 things to know

Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, Calif., has appointed Gene Ma, MD, a board-certified emergency medicine specialist with 15 years of experience, to the position of chief of staff starting July 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016.

Here are five things to know about Dr. Ma.

1. Dr. Ma succeeds Scott Worman, MD, a physician in family practice for 24 years, who served as chief of staff from July 2014 to June 2015.

2. Dr. Ma joined Tri-City Emergency Medical Group and WorkPartners in 2000 after graduating from the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine, and completing his internship at the Stanford School of Medicine and residency at the University of California San Diego. In 2012, he became executive director of Tri-City Emergency Medical Group and WorkPartners.

3. Dr. Ma has served on the Tri-City Hospital Foundation board of trustees since 2009.

4. In addition to being board certified, Dr. Ma is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians and a voluntary assistant clinical professor of medicine at UCSD.

5. Dr. Ma is a past chairman of quality assurance and is a past chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Tri-City Medical Center.
