Mr. Hufnagel said his decision to resign comes from him “not being able to do the things [he] was hired to do,” according to the report.
Three Rivers Hospital has been financially unstable and decided to cut cardiac rehabilitation services and eliminate 18 positions in an effort to reduce expenses.
According to another report in The Wenatchee World, a group of physicians asked for Mr. Hufnagel’s resignation and asked the board of directors to reconsider suspending cardiac rehabilitation services. Mr. Hufnagel had already planned on resigning “after the tough decisions needed to turn around the hospital’s finances were made,” according to the report.
