Texas Medical Center Names Dr. Robert Robbins CEO

Robert Robbins, MD, has been named president and CEO of Texas Medical Center in Houston, effective Nov. 5.

Dr. Robbins is currently a professor and chairman of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Stanford University and director of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute in Stanford, Calif.

Dr. Robbins is widely recognized as one of the world’s leading cardiothoracic surgeons. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He has many research interests, including stem cell therapy for the treatment of congestive heart failure, genetic determinates of disease, personalized medicine and regenerative medicine.
