Dr. Sutaria most recently served as a senior partner at McKinsey & Co. In that role, he offered advisory support to hospitals, health systems, physician groups and ambulatory care models, among other entities. He was previously a member of the associate clinical faculty at University of California at San Francisco.
Mr. Evans has worked at Tenet for 14 years. Following his retirement, the president of hospital operations role will be eliminated. Dr. Sutaria will directly oversee Tenet’s hospital operations business in his capacity as COO.
“With the addition of [Dr. Sutaria], it is clear the role of president of hospital operations is a layer which [Mr. Evans] and I, in consultation with our board, mutually decided to eliminate. This is consistent with our philosophy of a flatter organization,” said Ron Rittenmeyer, executive chairman and CEO of Tenet in a statement.
