Philadelphia-based Temple University Health System has appointed Robert Winn, MD, as director of the Fox Chase Cancer Center.
Dr. Winn will step into the role later this summer, according to a March 19 news release from Fox Chase.
He has served as director of Richmond, Va.-based VCU Health Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center since 2019 and holds the Lipman Chair in Oncology. Under Dr. Winn’s leadership, the VCU Massey Cancer Center achieved a comprehensive cancer center designation from the National Cancer Institute in 2023.
“When we recruited Dr. Winn, I asked him to stay at least five years and lead our efforts to achieve comprehensive status,” VCU Health President Michael Rao, PhD, said in a March 19 news release. “He has fulfilled his promises and has exceeded the timeline, and I am sincerely grateful for Rob’s unmatchable partnership and friendship.”
In September, Dr. Winn spoke to Becker’s about his growing concerns about an oncology workforce shortage and how to address them.
At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
