Tampa General names COO

Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital has named Melissa Golombek, DNP, as executive vice president and COO.

Dr. Golombek brings nearly 20 years of healthcare experience to her new role. She joined Tampa General in 2020 as senior administrator of Muma Children’s Hospital and the TGH Women’s Institute, later advancing to vice president.

Under her leadership, both service lines achieved significant year-over-year growth. She also helped secure the largest philanthropic gift in the region’s history for Muma Children’s Hospital. 

Prior to joining Tampa General, Dr. Golombek served in senior leadership roles at Johns Hokpins all Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., and Chicago-based Northwestern University Health System.  

Dr. Golombek succeeds Kelly Cullen, who served as Tampa General’s COO for six years.
