Dr. Malone, who currently serves as COO for Summa’s Care Delivery System, joined Summa in 2013, before which he served as CEO of Detroit’s Harper University and Hutzel Women’s Hospital. At the same time, he was CMO of the Detroit Medical Center, where he led the implementation of an EMR system for all seven hospitals.
As COO for the past several months at Summa, Dr. Malone was responsible for directing all clinical operations of Summa Akron City, St. Thomas, Barberton and Wadsworth-Rittman hospitals.
Dr. Malone will replace Tom Strauss, who is retiring as CEO at the end of the year.
