Stanford Health Care names new COO

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care has named Rick Shumway its new executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective Jan. 13. Mr. Shumway will succeed Quinn McKenna, who will retire in January.

Mr. Shumway currently serves as president and CEO of both Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley and Stanford Medicine Partners.

In his new role, Mr. Shumway will oversee daily operations across Stanford Health’s full system. He will also continue operational oversight for SHC Tri-Valley and Stanford Medicine Partners, according to an employee memo Mr. Shumway shared via a LinkedIn post.

Stanford Health will begin a national search to replace Mr. Shumway’s SHC Tri-Valley and Stanford Medicine Partners role in the coming months.
