St. Peter’s Hospital names interim CEO: 4 things to know

St. Peter’s Hospital in Helena, Mont., has named Fred Olson, MD, interim CEO, effective June 1.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Olson.

1. He has more than three decades of experience in healthcare and nearly 10 years in executive-level/clinical leadership positions in Montana.

2. Most recently, Dr. Olson was executive vice president for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana from 2010-2013.

3. Before joining Blue Cross, he served as an internal medicine physician in Helena.

4. As Dr. Olson begins his new job, St. Peter’s Hospital will continue its Leadership Transition Committee activities. The committee was formed to ensure a smooth and effective leadership transition following the resignation of outgoing president and CEO Nate Olson, according to a news release. Committee members will ultimately recommend a management model “to most effectively guide the organization in the future.”
