St. Peter's Hospital CEO to leave in May: 5 things to know

Nathan Olson, president and CEO of St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Mont., plans to resign from his post next year.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Olson.

1. He will leave St. Peter's to pursue a new leadership opportunity closer to family in Colorado.

2. He will remain in his position through May 31, and will assist in the transition process.

3. Mr. Olson has been with St. Peter's for three years.

4. During his tenure at St. Peter's, he led the development of St. Peter's 2020, the organization's five-year strategic plan. Hospital officials said Mr. Olson has also focused on creating a culture of "incredibly great" service, resulting in a 30 percent increase in hospital patient satisfaction in one year.

5. During Mr. Olson's time at St. Peter's, the hospital's cancer treatment center recently added a new $1 million CT/PET scanner, and another $4.5 million investment for a new linear accelerator is scheduled for next year. Additionally, hospital officials said, Mr. Olson has supported St. Peter's pursuit of its area trauma facility designation, which was successfully attained last August, and helped recruit more than 30 providers.
