Springfield, Mo.-based St. Louis Children’s at CoxHealth named Matthew Alder, MD, PhD, its inaugural pediatrician-in-chief and chief medical officer.
Dr. Alder will oversee the pediatric services of the joint venture between St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Springfield, Mo.-based CoxHealth to expand access to pediatric specialty care across Southwest Missouri, according to a March 12 system news release. The facility, which opened March 1 inside Cox South, has an advanced neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit and inpatient pediatric care. The joint venture will be supported by pediatric physicians at St. Louis-based WashU Medicine.
He will also oversee the opening of the outpatient specialty care center, scheduled to open in 2027. The center will provide ambulatory surgery, imaging, laboratory services, infusion, pediatric specialty care clinics, and more.
Previously, Dr. Alder served as attending physician in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Cox Medical Center South.
