Dr. Charvat, who assumed the role July 15, most recently served as vice president and CMO for UNC Johnston Health System in Smithfield, N.C. He previously worked at St. Cloud (Minn.) Hospital, where he served in several leadership positions, including chair of the emergency medicine department.
Dr. Charvat is a fellow of the American Academy of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
In addition to his medical training, Dr. Charvat has an MBA in health administration from the University of Colorado in Denver.
