St. Francis Hospital CEO Robert Granger resigns

Robert P. Granger, president and CEO of St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Ga., has resigned, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.

Mr. Granger's resignation comes as the hospital works through a financial crisis. According to the report, the hospital announced Mr. Granger's resignation in the same release it disclosed St. Francis is no longer in exclusive partnership talks with Piedmont Healthcare of Atlanta.

"The board and I concluded that a transitional leadership structure can best serve St. Francis as we continue down our planned path of partnership," Mr. Granger said in a prepared statement, according to the report.

Mr. Granger has served as St. Francis' CEO for the last 10 years.

Until an interim CEO is named, the board of trustees will lead the hospital's daily operations.
