St. Louis-based SSM Health appointed John Lucio, DO, as president and chief medical officer for SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo.
Dr. Lucio most recently served as regional chief medical officer for SSM Health’s Mid-Missouri Region, according to a Sept. 3 health system news release shared with Becker’s.
He has more than 25 years of clinical and leadership experience and has served patients and communities throughout Mid-Missouri for more than two decades.
Dr. Lucio joined the medical staff at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in 1999. He served as vice president of medical affairs from 2002 to 2014 and became regional chief medical officer in 2023.
The appointment is part of the region’s leadership succession plan ahead of Interim President Justin Morely’s departure Sept. 12.
