Sparks Health Names Dan McKay CEO

Sparks Health System of Fort Smith, Ark., has named Dan McKay as system CEO and CEO of Summit Medical Center in Van Buren, Ark.

Mr. McKay has worked as CEO for the Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems-owned Northwest Health System for five years. There, he helped develop collaborative relationships with physicians and medical staff, helped recruit 100 physicians to the system's medical team, and oversaw the opening of 20 new clinics.

Prior to his time at Northwest Health Systems, Mr. McKay was vice president at Community Health Systems Professional Services and also served in leadership positions in hospitals in South Carolina, Missouri, Texas and Alabama.

"[Dan] brings proven leadership skills and familiarity with our region to the role of CEO. On behalf of the board, I look forward to working with him to continue our work to enhance the care we provide our communities," said Hugh Maurrus, chairman of Sparks Health System's board of trustees, in a news release.
