Ms. Shepherd brings more than 28 years of experience to the organization, most recently as CEO of Rutherford Regional Health System in Rutherfordton, N.C.
She returned to Sovah Health after previously serving as COO and interim CEO for the organization. During that time, Ms. Shepherd enhanced physician recruitment and helped expand service lines, including cardiology, oncology and orthopedics, according to a July 2 news release from Sovah Health.
The healthcare system is part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health and has campuses in Danville and Martinsville, Va. Sovah Health eliminated COO positions at both locations in March 2023.
