1. Mr. Howell is currently president and CEO of North Star Health Alliance and Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, N.Y.
2. He previously served as COO at Steward-St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Mass.
3. He holds an MBA from Ithaca, N.Y.-based Cornell University.
4. Mr. Howell succeeds Ed McGeachey, who is retiring after 30 years at the helm of the organization.
5. Southern Maine Health Care, a member of Portland-based MaineHealth, includes two medical centers, 200 primary care and multispecialty providers and more than 2,200 employees.
