Sentara Healthcare names 1st medical groups, ambulatory services president: 4 notes

Norfolk, Va.-based Sentara Healthcare appointed David James, MD, president of medical groups and ambulatory services, a newly created role.

Here are four notes:

1. Dr. James comes to Sentara from Houston-based Memorial Hermann, where he served as senior vice president and CEO of Memorial Hermann Medical Group and post-acute services.

2. He was previously president of ProMedica Physician Group & Continuum Services in Toledo, Ohio.

3. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.

4. In addition to his medical training, Dr. James holds a juris doctor degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.
