Resigning CEO Kim Roberts, whose system operates 574-bed Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, reportedly disagreed with her boss, County Executive Jeffrey Smith, MD, on running the hospital under a shrinking budget.
Dr. Smith said he is trying to maintain the hospital’s excellence while finding savings in its $1.2 billion operation to avert a $250 million projected shortfall next year in the county’s $2 billion budget.
