Saint Luke’s taps president for 2 hospitals

Monica Smith, MSN, RN, has been appointed president of Saint Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Saint Luke’s South Hospital in Overland Park, Kan., effective April 13.

Ms. Smith most recently served as COO of Missouri Baptist Medical Center, a 449-bed hospital in St. Louis, where she led daily operations since 2024, according to an April 13 news release from Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke’s.

In her new role, she will also oversee Saint Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute in Overland Park and Saint Luke’s Community Hospitals. She succeeds Bobby Olm-Shipman, who began serving as president of Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City in February.

Ms. Smith previously served as COO and chief nursing officer at Columbia, Mo.-based Boone Health, where she held leadership roles for 18 years.
