Wilmington, Del.-based Saint Francis Healthcare President and CEO Brian E. Dietz has stepped down.

Here are four takeaways:

1. An emailed hospital statement does not give a reason for his resignation.

2. Mr. Dietz served at the helm of the hospital on a permanent basis since 2014.

3. Dave Ricci will take over as interim president and CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare, effective immediately.

4. Until recently, Mr. Ricci served as president and CEO of St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark, N.J.

"Dave Ricci is a strong and strategic leader with proven experience and strong ties to our region. We look forward to working with him to continue pursuing our People-Centered 2020 strategic plan," said Benjamin Carter, executive vice president at Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health, Saint Francis Healthcare's parent.
