RWJBarnabas Health picks CEO of Newark Beth Israel Medical Center: 5 things to know

Darrell K. Terry Sr. has been named president and CEO of Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey, also in Newark. 

Here are five things to know about Mr. Terry.

1. Since February, he has served as interim president and CEO of NBI and CHoNJ. Previously, he served as COO since 2011.

2. Overall, Mr. Terry has rendered 18 years of service to NBI and CHoNJ.

3. Mr. Terry is the current chairman of the board at Jewish Renaissance Medical Center, based in Perth Amboy, N.J.

4. Mr. Terry also serves on the Healthcare Business Solutions Board for the New Jersey Hospital Association and is a member of The Hospital Advisory Committee of Leapfrog.

5. He earned a bachelor's degree and a certificate in business management from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., and a master's degree in healthcare administration from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J. He also earned a master's degree in public health from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York City, and a certificate of participation from Harvard University's School of Public Health for Leadership Strategies Program in Boston.
