Richard Gilfillan, MD. CEO of Trinity Health (Livonia, Mich.). Dr. Gilfillan brought more than 20 years of healthcare industry experience to Trinity Health in 2013 when he became CEO. He oversees the $17.6 billion, 93-hospital Trinity Health and is responsible for the system’s 120 continuing care programs, home care and senior living facilities. Dr. Gilfillan played an instrumental role in launching the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation in 2010, and he served as its inaugural director. During his time leading CMMI, Dr. Gilfillan gained experience working with industry stakeholders to develop innovative care models. A family medicine physician by training, he previously served as executive vice president of insurance operations for Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and president and CEO of Geisinger Health Plan.
