Rady Children’s Health, based in San Diego and Orange, Calif., has hired Pravene Nath, MD, former chief information and digital officer of Stanford Health Care, as executive vice president and chief innovation and physician executive.

Dr. Nath starts Nov. 16 and will report to President and CEO Kimberly Chavalas Cripe, according to an Oct. 28 news release shared with Becker’s. He will lead innovation and discovery, digital health, clinical informatics and emerging technologies. He will also work with physician, nursing, technology, research and operations leaders to help set enterprise clinical priorities.

Dr. Nath most recently held senior leadership roles at Walmart Health, where he oversaw digital health ventures, AI and data-driven healthcare solutions. At Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care, he led an enterprise EHR implementation and launched Stanford MyHealth, a digital platform that expanded patient access to services.

He has also held executive roles at Roche, Mindstrong Health and New York City-based NYU Langone Medical Center. He is board certified in emergency medicine and clinical informatics.

Ms. Cripe said Dr. Nath has experience “turning innovative ideas into meaningful change.” Dr. Nath said he plans to bring promising advances “safely into everyday practice” and support care teams.

The hire bolsters the health system’s strategy to expand access to specialized pediatric care, pursue new care delivery models and use AI and other technologies to improve quality, safety and the patient and family experience.

Rady Children’s Health formed in January 2025 through the merger of the parent companies of Children’s Hospital of Orange County and Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego. The system operates three hospitals, two level 1 pediatric trauma centers and a primary and specialty care network across six counties.
