Providence hires treasurer to assist CFO with health system's 'recovery journey'

Renton, Wash.-based Providence, a 51-hospital system, has appointed Rafael Martinez-Chapman as senior vice president and treasurer, effective Dec. 12.

For the last 14 years, Mr. Martinez-Chapman worked at Lumen Technologies, a global IT services and consulting company, where he most recently served as senior vice president, treasurer and head of corporate finance. He will report to CFO Greg Hoffman.

Mr. Martinez-Chapman's experience managing global teams for Lumen will help him align systemwide needs while allowing for flexibility in local execution, Providence said in a Dec. 13 news release. His financial leadership includes knowledge of capital markets, risk and cash management, capital allocation and structure, organic and acquisition growth, and divestitures.

"I look forward to Rafael's contributions, especially as we continue navigating the recovery journey ahead of us," Mr. Hoffman said in the release. "His skills and background will serve the family of organizations well, helping to ensure that we always respond to the times and carry the mission into the future."

Mr. Martinez-Chapman has a master of business administration degree with a concentration in finance and a focus on sustainability from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
