Prime Illinois hospital names CEO

St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, Ill., has named Patrick Kerrwood as its CEO.

Mr. Kerrwood brings more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience to the role, having served in senior positions including CEO, president and vice president at multiple hospitals across the U.S., according to a Jan. 12 Prime Healthcare news release shared with Becker’s.

He most recently served as vice president of operations at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va., part of Cincinnati-based Bon Secours Mercy Health. His prior roles include CEO of Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark., and president of Chester (Pa.) Crozer Medical Center.

Mr. Kerrwood succeeds interim CEO Luis Leon, who took the helm after Otis Story Sr. resigned Nov. 7. 

Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare acquired St. Mary’s and seven other Illinois hospitals from St. Louis-based Ascension on March 1. St. Mary’s is a 182-bed acute care facility.
