Phoenix VA director resigns

Phoenix VA Health Care System’s director RimaAnn Nelson, RN, is stepping down for a different position within the Veterans Health Administration, according to local news station KTAR.

Ms. Nelson took over the director position at the Phoenix VA Health Care System in 2016. She joined the VA health system in 1994 as a student nurse, and went on to become a director in St. Louis and the Philippines. 

Ms. Nelson will leave the medical center in Phoenix to become the director of the Veterans Integrated Service Network in Cincinnati. In that role, she will be director of the VA system overseeing Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. 

Alyshia Smith, DNP, RN, Phoenix VA Health Care’s associate director for patient care services, will become interim director until Ms. Nelson’s successor is found.
