Geisinger Exploring Partnership With Pennsylvania Hospital

Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa. and 325-bed Community Medical Center in Scranton have signed of a non-binding letter of intent to explore ways to work together, according to a release by Community Medical Center.

John Nilsson, president and CEO of Community Medical Center, said his organization has been exploring affiliations with other providers for several years.

Geisinger, a physician-led system that includes 548-bed Geisinger Medical Center, left a two-year merger with 469-bed Penn State Hershey Medical Center in Hersey, Pa., in 1999.
