Penn Medicine hospital CEO heads to Tufts

John Herman has been named president of Tufts Medical Center in Boston, effective in early September.

Mr. Herman brings more than 30 years of healthcare experience in operational excellence, strategic leadership and clinical innovation, according to a June 24 news release from Burlington, Mass.-based Tufts Medicine.

He most recently served as CEO of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, part of Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania Health System. During his tenure, he increased clinical trial enrollment, improved financial performance and strengthened the family medicine residency program.

Mr. Herman has also held leadership roles at New Orleans-based Ochsner Health and Buffalo, N.Y.-based Catholic Health.
