Partners HealthCare names Dr. Anne Klibanski its first female CEO: 6 things to know

Boston-based Partners HealthCare selected Anne Klibanski, MD, to serve as its first female president and CEO.

Six things to know:

1. Dr. Klibanski has served as interim president and CEO of the nonprofit health system since February, following an announcement by David Torchiana, MD, stating his plans to step down.

2. She was previously chief academic officer of Partners HealthCare, a position she assumed in 2012.

3. As chief academic officer, she led systemwide efforts to further clinical and educational collaboration and oversaw the organization’s research enterprise.

4. She was also chief of neuroendocrine at Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital.

5. Dr. Klibanski is currently the Laurie Carrol Guthart professor of medicine and an academic dean for partners at Boston-based Harvard Medical School.

6. She is a member of the Association of American Physicians and the American Society of Clinical Investigation.
