Orlando (Fla.) Health recently appointed R. Erick Hawkins as CFO.
Six things to know:
1. In the role, Mr. Hawkins oversees all financial operations of the health system. His responsibilities also include business development, information technology, community and government relations, asset strategy, innovation efforts and the Orlando Health Foundation.
2. Since joining Orlando Health in 2016, Mr. Hawkins has held several senior leadership roles, including senior vice president of strategic management and, most recently, chief administrative officer.
3. Before joining Orlando Health, he served as CFO and vice president of heart and vascular services at University of North Carolina REX Healthcare in Raleigh. In that role, he was responsible for financial oversight and strategic innovation initiatives.
4. Mr. Hawkins has also held leadership roles outside of hospital systems, including serving as president of the board of directors for Hospice of Wake County and as a member of executive leadership teams supporting American Heart Association and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society initiatives in North Carolina.
5. He earned an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business in Durham, N.C.
6. Leslie Flake, BSN, stepped down from the CFO role at Orlando Health in August 2024. Bernadette Spong, her predecessor, temporarily stepped in while the health system searched for a permanent replacement,
