Mr. Gessel has more than two decades of healthcare leadership experience, most recently serving as group president of Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health.
He succeeds Scott Kelly who retired in February. Roy Vinyard, Asante’s previous president and CEO, has been serving in the interim role since October 2022.
Asante is a three-hospital system that provides medical care to 600,000 people throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California.
