Angela Carter, DNP, has been named chief nursing officer of NYC Health + Hospitals’ Jacobi and North Central Bronx hospital campuses in the Bronx borough of New York City.
In the role, Dr. Carter will oversee nursing operations at Jacobi, a 457-bed teaching hospital with a Level 1 trauma center, and North Central Bronx, a 215-bed community hospital specializing in women’’ and children’s services.
She joins the New York City-based system from Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital in Shelbyville, Tenn., where she also served as chief nurse. She brings more than two decades of nursing leadership experience to the role.
Prior to Vanderbilt, Dr. Carter served as network CNO and quality management officer for the Veterans Affairs system. In that role, she oversaw five academic hospitals and dozens of outpatient clinics across Tennessee and Kentucky.
Dr. Carter has championed quality and safety initiatives that have improved patient outcomes and employee engagement, according to a March 13 news release.
