NYC Health + Hospitals appoints 4 to executive team

New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals added four executives to its senior leadership team.

Eric Wei, MD, is NYC Health + Hospitals' inaugural chief quality officer, a new role in the health system that will provide oversight for clinical performance, patient safety and clinical analytics, among others. Dr. Wei previously served as interim chief quality officer and associate medical director for quality, safety and risk at Los Angeles County and USC Medical Center. He is also an assistant professor of clinical emergency medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC in Los Angeles.

The public health system named Matthew Siegler senior vice president for managed care, a newly created role that focuses on patient and revenue growth strategies. He most recently worked at Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, where he led strategic and advocacy efforts across Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente's commercial and government business. He also served as an operational, policy and communications leader on the staff of the White House Domestic Policy Council during the Obama administration.

NYC Health + Hospitals appointed Theodore Long, MD, its first-ever vice president for primary care; another new role, in which Dr. Long will focus on developing a comprehensive business plan for the health system's current portfolio of primary care services. Dr. Long is currently the senior medical officer for the Quality Measurement and Value-Based Incentives Group at CMS. He is a practicing primary care physician, who served on the faculty of New Haven, Conn.-based Yale School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School's Center for Primary Care.

Israel Rocha will serve as permanent vice president for OneCity Health in addition to his current role as CEO of NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst (N.Y.). OneCity Health is a subsidiary of NYC Health + Hospitals focused on population health, care management and implementation of the state's Delivery System Reform Incentive Payment program. Mr. Rocha has been serving as interim VP of OneCity Health since November. He previously spent a decade working in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The NYC Health + Hospitals board approved the appointments at the request of Mitchell Katz, MD, who will take over as president and CEO of the organization in January 2018.
