Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has named Michael Vaccaro, DNP, RN, as senior vice president and chief nursing and clinical operations officer.
Dr. Vaccaro will oversee nursing operations with a focus on safety, quality and patient experience, according to a Jan. 29 news release from the health system. He succeeds Denise Mihal, BSN, RN, who retired in January after nearly a decade in the position.
Dr. Vaccaro brings 25 years of nursing experience, including 18 years with Novant Health, to the role. He most recently served as chief nursing officer for the system’s greater Charlotte region and spent seven years as senior director of nursing for women’s and children’s services at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.
