NorthBay Health names VP of managed care and health plan integration

Fairfield, Calif.-based NorthBay Health has named Matt Whalen vice president of managed care and health plan integration. 

Mr. Whalen comes to NorthBay with 30 years of experience in managed care strategy, value-based contracting and revenue performance, according to a LinkedIn post from the health system. 

He most recently led contract strategy for a $1 billion, 1,200-provider integrated delivery network at South Weymouth, Mass.-based South Shore Health, according to the post. In that role he expanded the provider network by 266% and directed a CMS bundled payment program that delivered more than $30 million in surplus.

“His extensive experience negotiating commercial and Medicare Advantage agreements, combined with his expertise in developing value-based partnerships, will help strengthen NorthBay Health’s payer relationships and support our long-term growth strategy,” the system said in the post.
