North Kansas City Hospital CEO Peggy Schmitt to retire at year-end

Peggy Schmitt, BSN, RN, president and CEO of North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital and its subsidiary Meritas Health, is retiring at the end of the year after 25 years of service.

Ms. Schmitt assumed the top post at the organization in 2012, prior to which she was a hospital vice president and general counsel for nearly 20 years. During her tenure, the hospital expanded access points, services and specialized medical staff. It also entered into an oncology partnership with The University of Kansas Cancer Center in Kansas City, Kan., in 2014.

Ms. Schmitt holds a nursing degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia and a law degree from Yale University in New Haven, Conn.

Ms. Schmitt will continue in her current role until the hospital’s board identifies her successor.
