Mr. Lopez has led the health system since 2005, previously serving in an interim capacity since 2004.
The health system’s board did not give explicit reasons for not renewing Mr. Lopez’s contract, but said Harris Health System needs a leadership change and a new direction to deal with healthcare reform, according to the report.
