New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian has appointed Julia Iyasere, MD, as senior vice president and chief medical officer, effective Jan. 22.
She will succeed Deepa Kumaraiah, MD, who was recently named executive vice president and COO. Dr. Kumaraiah is stepping into the role following the selection of Brian Donley, MD, as the system’s president and CEO, also effective Jan. 22.
Dr. Iyasere started her career as an internal medicine resident at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She currently serves as senior vice president and executive director of the NewYork-Presbyterian Dalio Center for Health Justice, according to a Dec. 17 news release.
In her new role, Dr. Iyasere will oversee enterprise quality and safety efforts, medical affairs and service line leadership, and graduate medical education programs. She will remain involved with the Dalio Center for Health Justice as an executive sponsor, spearheading various health equity initiatives.
Dr. Iyasere is also a practicing hospitalist and assistant professor of medicine at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons.
