New York system taps pharmacist to serve as chief quality officer

Rome (N.Y.) Health has appointed Scott Burns vice president and chief quality officer, a role he’s served on an interim basis for the last six months.

Mr. Burns joined the system as a staff pharmacist in 2008 and became pharmacy director in 2010. He previously spent eight years working in retail pharmacy.

In his current role, Mr. Burns will oversee the health system’s quality management efforts, along with risk management, compliance, infection prevention, employee health and well-being, population health and pharmacy.

Rome Health is a nonprofit system affiliated with Syracuse, N.Y.-based St. Joseph’s Health.
