New Hanover Regional Medical Center names chief clinical officer: 3 notes

New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C., tapped West Paul, MD, PhD, to serve as chief clinical officer, effective April 29.

Three notes:

1. Dr. Paul joins NHRMC from Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed, where he was senior vice president and chief quality and medical staff officer.

2. He previously worked at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, where he served in several roles, including as founding chair of the division of consultative and diagnostic medicine.

3. In his new role, Dr. Paul will oversee clinical quality and patient safety within the NHRMC system, which includes six hospitals and centers.
