Steve Goeser will retire as president and CEO of Omaha, Neb.-based Methodist Health System on Dec. 31, ending a 21-year tenure with the organization.
The board of directors named Executive Vice President Josie Abboud as his successor, according to an Oct. 1 health system news release. Abboud has served as executive vice president since July 2024 and as president and CEO of Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital since 2018.
Goeser has served as CEO since 2017 and oversaw key developments, including the full integration of Methodist Fremont Health, construction of a new corporate headquarters and a $90 million surgical renovation and expansion project at Methodist Hospital. He also directed strategic planning efforts and facility expansions at Methodist Women’s Hospital.
Abboud, who began her career at the system in 1996 as a critical care staff nurse, has since held roles as service executive, vice president, executive vice president and COO.
